As I've mentioned before, I'm partial to cake. OK, more than partial; more like obsessed.
Given that the major food holiday is around the corner, I'm just wondering where everyone else's pastry preferences fall.
So... check out the poll in the right column, and vote what your heart tells you!

i voted but i also wanted to clarify that it has to be a really well-made pie. a sub-par cake can still be enjoyed but a bad pie... blech.
Agreed! Bad pie is a sugary crime.
Is consideration given to holiday influences? I mean, nobody lights candles in a birthday pie, and there's no apple cake on the table in Rockwell's depiction of Thanksgiving, is there?
Just go with whatever your heart - er, gut - tells you at the moment. If you're feeling Thanksgiving-ish, it may inspire you to go with pumpkin pie although your favorite dessert might normally be Red Velvet cake. For me, I just go with my favorite.
My family's had at least one Thanksgiving where a Jewish apple cake was the main dessert, and last year my aunt brought her killer apple cobbler, which is sort of a cake-pie hybrid. But then, as the attendees readily point out, our Thanksgiving festivities are as far away from Rockwell as you can get!
